How to Add a Logo and Ticker to Your TV Channel

4 min readInstaPlayout Blog

Why Branding Matters

Every professional TV channel has a logo bug in the corner, a scrolling news ticker at the bottom, and branded lower thirds for names and titles. These elements make your channel look polished and trustworthy — and InstaPlayout makes them easy to add.

Adding Your Logo

Step 1: Open InstaPlayout and go to the Graphics Editor.

Step 2: Click "Add Graphic" → "Image".

Step 3: Upload your logo file (PNG with transparent background works best).

Step 4: Drag it to your preferred corner — top-left is traditional for TV logos.

Step 5: Adjust the size and opacity to taste. Most channels use 70–80% opacity so it doesn't distract from the content.

Step 6: Set it to "Always On" so it appears on every broadcast automatically.

Adding a News Ticker

A ticker is the scrolling text bar that runs along the bottom of the screen.

Step 1: In the Graphics Editor, click "Add Graphic" → "Ticker".

Step 2: Type your ticker text. You can add multiple lines — InstaPlayout will scroll through them in sequence.

Step 3: Customise the font, colour, background, and scroll speed.

Step 4: Position it at the bottom of the screen and set it to "Always On".

Adding Lower Thirds

Lower thirds show a person's name and title during interviews or presenter segments.

Step 1: Click "Add Graphic" → "Lower Third".

Step 2: Enter the name and title text.

Step 3: Choose a design template and customise the colours to match your brand.

Step 4: Set a duration — lower thirds typically appear for 5–10 seconds.

Tips for Professional-Looking Graphics

  • Use your brand colours consistently
  • Keep logos small — they should identify, not dominate
  • Use readable fonts for tickers (avoid decorative fonts)
  • Test your graphics on different screen sizes before going live

Conclusion

With InstaPlayout's built-in graphics tools, adding professional branding to your broadcast takes minutes, not hours — and the results look genuinely impressive.
